FAQs

The staff directory software is a centralized employee directory built on SharePoint that displays employee profiles, organization charts, contact details, anniversaries, new joiners, and HR-related information in a searchable and user-friendly interface.
By default, data is pulled from Microsoft Entra ID, or Azure AD as the primary source. The directory also supports data integration from SharePoint Lists, Excel files, and on-premises AD (via Hybrid sync).
To complete the installation, a Microsoft Global Administrator must approve the required API permissions and need access to SharePoint App Catalog; if you do not have these permissions, please coordinate with your IT department to facilitate the connection

Follow these steps:

  • Navigate to SharePoint: Go to your SharePoint Tenant home page.
  • Open Settings: Click the Gear Icon in the top-right corner and select Add an app.
  • Visit the Store: Click the link for "Find more apps in the SharePoint Store" on the left-hand sidebar.
  • Search: Type "Employee Directory – HRD 365" into the search bar.
  • Add to Site: Select the app from the results and click Add to App site.
  • Global Deployment: Ensure the checkbox "Enable this app and add it to all sites" is checked to make the web part available across your entire organization

The web part needs to "talk" Microsoft Graph to pull employee data securely. Navigate to SharePoint Admin Center > Advanced > API Access to approve: 

  • User.Read.All: Displays basic employee info.
  • Presence.Read.All: Shows real-time Teams status (Online/Away)
  • OrgContact.Read.All: Generates the visual reporting structure.
  • Mail.Send (Optional): Enables automated birthday/anniversary emails if configured for your environment
  • User.ReadWrite (Optional): Allows users to update their own profiles within SharePoint.
HR Directory can be used by all employees, HR teams, managers, and administrators. Visibility can be controlled to hide unlicensed users, external contacts, or specific users as required.
Use the Exclude Deactivated User within the web part settings to hide/remove deactivated or disabled accounts in HR Directory. Enabling this ensures that only active employees are displayed across all other webparts on same site, including Birthday/Anniversary, and Org Chart sections within the Directory.
The hierarchy is dynamically generated based on the "Manager" field in your Entra ID; can further filter the chart view based on Department, Domain, or Location to group employees according to your organizational structure.
Yes. If this feature is enabled for your environment, HR Directory 365 supports interactive Floor Maps to provide a visual representation of your office layout, if you need this feature enabled, please contact us directly to discuss activation for your tenant.
Yes, the application includes a Desk Booking module that allows employees to reserve workspaces directly within SharePoint. If you would like to add Desk Booking to your current plan, please contact us directly about setting up and pricing.
